We Are a Christian Nation...Whether You Like It or Not.

Please view this series by David Barton of WallBuilders.

David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage.

WallBuilders is a name taken from the Old Testament writings of Nehemiah, who led a grassroots movement to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore its strength and honor. In the same way, WallBuilders seeks to energize the grassroots today to become involved in strengthening their communities, states, and nation.

David Barton is the author of numerous best-selling books, with the subjects being drawn largely from his massive library of tens of thousands of original writings from the Founding Era. He also addresses well over 400 groups each year.

I've just read my Glenn Beck Program newsletter for July 3, 2009, and found it very interesting.

Glenn wrote, "At some point during the day, I hope you'll take time to think and reflect on what it is we're truly celebrating on the 4th of July -- our Independence Day. Of course the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776 but it's so much more than that. On this day, 233 short years ago, a small group of men dedicated themselves to a higher purpose, an ideal they believed in so greatly, they signed their name to its expression and in doing so put their very lives at risk. Never has a simple act of signing one's name carried such weight, such a profound commitment. By signing the Declaration of Independence, 56 men stood in direct defiance of the British government. They became marked men, and willingly so. As I was doing some research on the significance of July 4th, I came across some interesting facts about these men. Today as we all enjoy the freedom our forefathers guaranteed us, join me in honoring the extraordinary sacrifice of 56 extraordinary Americans.

Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence:

Five were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes burned to the ground. Two lost sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, and two more had sons captured. Nine fought and died in the Revolutionary War. If you ever feel like your lone voice can never be heard, that the political system isn't set up for "regular" Americans to change the course of history, remember: The signers were flesh and blood, mortal men with a divinely-inspired aim.

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists, eleven were merchants, and nine were farmers and large plantation owners. They were well educated, smart enough to know that by signing the Declaration of Independence, they were signing their own death warrants. They did it anyway, and God bless them for it
."

These men took a chance, a long-shot, and jeopardized everything they had, even their lives for a the hope of liberty and the freedom of self-reliance.

What are we prepared to do? The comfort zone you live in, the safety-net that is your little world is now jeopardized. The future of you and your children's tomorrow is now sacrificed for the pursuits of the elite, who see you only as an economic number. Who have embraced a post-Modernist society to the degree that it has image and appearance as more important than character, tolerance means you MUST validate everyone's beliefs, and the Western culture is oppressive.

So, I ask again, what are we (YOU) prepared to do? If you're afraid, get brave; if you feel weak, get empowered; if you feel alone, rally your neighbors. Those of us of faith, seek God's wisdom and direction. Those without, you really should get it. You'll be needing it!

The time for talk and half-measures is over. These 56 men, these founding fathers of our country, risked it all for a glimpse, a whisper of something no one had ever had before in the history of the world. We can't just let it all slip away. How much more should we be willing to sacrifice now to keep it?

Also, I'm beginning to get a little leery of some of the media ranters alleging to be for us.

Just a thought...

As much as I like Glenn, and have the greatest respect for the 9-12 Project, as well as, the Tea Party rallies, I have some reservations about the effectiveness of any of it (in the end). While I feel very much at odds (down right shame for) with both political parties in DC (and in my state), I fell that those exhibiting the clearest and most present danger to the American public are the Democrats. Is it not possible that the most probable effect of all this (in its present form) will be to take Republican (under the guise of "Libertarian" and "Independent") votes away, thus ushering in a further Democratic majority, and 4 more years for the Obama crew?

Also, do we really have the time to wait for the next mid-term election? We are not seeing any real effective candidates come forward, nor credible existing seated representatives in Washington. Maybe we should take a second look at the possibility of getting our individual states (and local governments) in order, and taking charge of their own (our own) destiny.

State Secession...
Well, this seems to be the most drastic of possibilities, BUT, if the citizens within a state want this for their own self-reliance then so be it. Maybe, if states across the nation did this (with the intention of reforming and restoring our nation) it would reset our government. If it were to come to this, I would rather see our nation fragment into pieces, keeping some enclave of freedom still alive than this continued unholy disaster under the present regime.

In the end, most of what's going on appears to be "symbolism-over-substance," and may do nothing but lead to further disillusionment and liberal empowerment.

Cap'n Trade

Before I start my rant, I'd like to report that I do not have access to Glenn Beck's 9-12 Project from my home-based IP address. I am denied access. However, when I am at work, there is no problem viewing and posting. Also, I can log into IntenseDebate, and view those I'm following. Weird. So, I'll be posting regularly to this blog.

Well, no big surprise from Congress. But, does it really matter? We’re just going to vote them out of office (Well, some of them.), right? So between now and the 2010 election they will keep doing whatever they want, with no regard for the American public. What are we hoping for in 2010? Just to vote out the incumbent? Then what? Who will take their place, and how effective will they be? Will all that has and will transpire by then be repealed? Are we going to have our own [real] organized, national movement? Will the Tea Parties be able to muster a better showing? I live in the St. Louis area. A few thousand showed up for the Tea Party there. Every year they have a Breast Cancer Awareness walk/run, and over 60K show up. Why can’t we get the same involvement for our country as we do for cancer awareness? These rallies need to be on a day where maximum participation can be attained (ie. Saturday). It really is time to kick it into gear, and quit with the “Den Mother” approach to this. If we don’t do whatever it takes now (not in 2010), there will be a much larger sacrifice required later.
